"The grader systems are great. We use the snow maps for council and for ourselves, and it's great. Council’s always asking, ‘Did the grader go down this road?’ or I get a call asking if someone came down a certain road, and now they can just check themselves. It’s so nice for them to be able to utilize it."

"It’s all been working really good. I can tell where equipment is and what roads are getting done, whether it’s grading, snow blowing, or plowing. We used it with our Kubota tractor and snowblower, which was great because we bill people. If someone says we haven’t been there, I can pull it up and say, ‘Well, he was there for 45 minutes three days ago.’ My councillors use the Snow Map all the time. A couple of them are pretty faithful at it, and sometimes they tell me where they think my operators are before I even know. JDLink tracks things like engine RPM and what gear they’re in, but it doesn’t tell me if the blade is up or down or if the operator is actually doing the work. That’s the kind of info I get from the ConX system, and that’s what I really need."

The Snow Map has been especially valuable in the winter, but even in the summer it helps us track where the equipment is and what’s being done. "The Grader Systems work wonderfully for us. We really love it. Our favorite thing is that it actually shows blade up and blade down, because there are lots of roads our graders travel to get to where they’re working. So when using something like the John Deere GPS system, it looks like they've gone up and down that road every day, but that doesn't mean it was graded. Having that detail is huge! We get monthly map reports from you guys, and I take those to council just to show them, ‘here's the roads that have been done.’ And in some cases, the roads haven’t been done—and we need to have a conversation with our operators about making sure those roads are being done. Honestly, I love it. The minute a ratepayer calls to say, 'Hey, my road hasn't been graded,’ I can do a quick search and say, ‘Actually, they were there last week.’ It’s so handy. I don’t have to bug my operators or ask them to remind me—it's just there. I love being able to do that. This snow removal map was really awesome this past winter, especially with all our ice. Our graders ran and ran and ran trying to clear it. It was really nice for council to be able to access the snow removal map and see where the graders had been and what they were trying to accomplish. I just shared the link with council, and now they don’t have to call me and say, ‘Where are the graders at?’ or ‘What are they doing?’ It’s amazing. I’ve talked to a few different people and told them that we have ConX. In fact, even today someone had asked about what GPS systems people use, and I said, ‘Oh, I use ConX, and call me if you have any questions about it’—because we do love it."
"We really like the Grader system, it helps a lot for tracking where our graders are with snow clearing, especially since we don’t have great cell service here but it’s still able to track everything. “We have the Snow Maps on our website. Our Ratepayers think it's a great tool to have for sure. It's awesome when we have a snowstorm just to know where the Grader has been and where it hasn't. I do think that that we've had less calls into the office now asking about which roads are safe to drive on. I send out a mass notification to any of my rate payers that have signed up for it at the beginning of the season how to access it on our website and that they just follow the link and that they would be able to see the snow removal.”

"Our Gate System has made managing access and charging per entry simple while keeping the gate secure. The Bulk Water Fill systems at our wells have also been a big help during reporting season, making it easy to track water volumes and handle billing. We also have Mower Systems for tracking and culvert detection, and Grader Systems we use year-round, which are great for tracking but also for checking in on our staff to see where they are. We use the Snow Map on our public website, so instead of all our ratepayers calling in and asking us about which roads have been done and which roads are next, they can just check the online Snow Map instead. They have also been essential for our bus drivers who need to immediately report in to the school division whenever there is a snowstorm and report on the road conditions. "The tracking for our graders is going great. I can see exactly where everyone is, what roads are getting graded, and how many miles we're covering. The office folks are using the Road Segment Analytics system to dig even deeper into the road data which tells them the operational costs associated with each segment so they can plan for their budgets. One thing I really like is when a ratepayer calls to complain that their road hasn't been graded, I can pull up the info and tell them, 'Actually, your road was graded on this day at this time, and here's how long it took, how fast the grader was going, and how many passes it made.' It’s made dealing with complaints a whole lot quicker and easier. It’s easily my favourite feature."
"Everything is working really well, from our grader/mower devices to our water fill station. Even the new SOS-Man Down devices that ConX redeveloped to better suit our needs. We recently had an issue with one of our mower devices and the Support Team was able to resolve the issue quickly and provided great, prompt service, which has always been our experience whenever we need help."

"I like the systems we are using for our Grader, Mower, and Sprayer operations; they work well. When rate payers question if work has been done, I can easily show it has been. For example, there was a complaint that claimed the grader hadn't been there in six months, and this was not the case. I find that having the systems also keep the Operators on their toes. "We have a Gate System at our Scale House which allows us to charge per entry and also ensures that the scale house door is closed properly each time. The Municipality also uses GPS services on our equipment. I find using the live group map and other reporting easy enough and refer to it even more in the Summer months. We often have rate payers call to inquire about their roads not being graded and this allows me to quickly access whether or not this has been done. We also really appreciate it as far as our work alone policy and being able to see where our equipment is. Operators are suppose to check in three time a day but, additionally, the system allows me to log in at any time and see that they are moving and are okay."
"The ConX Systems have been a great addition to managing our RM's operations! I like the ability to instantly see where graders and other equipment are. This has been especially great for mowing, to keep track of what has been done and plan for where to go next. I accessed the system a lot for our mowing operations this past season. We receive automatic monthly reports for both our Graders and Mowers, and I love not having to generate them myself. I forward these reports to Council each month, which keeps them in the know of what has been done. Our Reeve likes being able to log into his account and see where equipment is at, as well as keep track of what is going on without making a bunch of phone calls. This allows him to answer phone calls/complaints without a middle man."
"We just finished marking our culverts and other assets with the X-it device; that was an absolute breeze. I am looking forward to utilizing the digital map that it provides for Asset Management purposes. Additionally, I hope to play with the Road-Segment-Analytics feature more and plan to use this to put a value to some of our roads for grant purposes. I will likely book a refresher training session, as I believe this feature can provide a lot of benefit. The included Snow Maps feature is currently being used internally, but we may decide to make it public down the road. The mapping feature is terrific and allows the office to locate the graders when fielding ratepayer inquiries as to when their roads will be maintained. An added bonus is that our operators are happy they no longer have to make up or submit those maps! "This year, Council decided to switch GPS providers to ConX Wireless. So far, it is going perfectly! The included online training session went well and was easy to follow. I much prefer the ConX reporting to our previous provider and also find it simpler to run for Council. I am loving the automatic monthly reports; they are great! We also no longer have the frequent satellite skipping we used to. I am looking forward to using the free Snow Maps feature on our website this season, and think it will really reduce the number of calls we get in the office regarding snow removal."

"The Water Fill System has helped us to track water usage and allows Administration to bill people easily. We previously had an open well with no way to do either of these things. Rate payers have not complained about the access system; they only had an initial problem with the Municipality charging for water because they were previously getting it for free. We also have systems on our graders. They help to keep us on track, and allow us to see where guys are and what roads have been done. I am not micromanaging the guys by any means, but the system is also there to answer to rate payer complaints. The reports are easy to generate from my account and everything has been straightforward to use."
"I recently had someone come into the office and say their lane hadn't been bladed. I looked up the lane in question in the system and found that to be true. The system has been great for this. I was able to contact Public Works about the issue and they agreed that they had missed the lane and addressed it accordingly."
"I really like how easy it is to see where equipment is and the monthly reports that come out are really helpful as well. Everything is going good. Council has also said that they like the system and the ease of access."
"The systems have been helpful in a number of ways and definitely for working alone. If someone is idling too long, I have the systems set to email me beyond the set threshold so we can phone and check on staff/go to them if necessary. It is also helpful for when ratepayers come in saying a road hasn't been graded in such and such time; I can look and either agree or disagree with them accordingly. We also use the system to assist with billing purposes, and can do this without a bunch of paperwork and/or follow-ups. We clear driveways in the area and the system allows us to make sure the right landowner is being billed and that they are being billed the proper amount."
"The System is working fairly well for our graders. Administration prints reports every month of what everyone has been up to. I use the maintenance schedule; that's really good and gives me reminders for servicing. It is nice to find out where the machines are and periodically see what they have been up to in a course of a week. On the whole, it is a good system."
"I use the system every day. It helps to organize the crews and allows me to see what has been completed. We will be using it for more of what it offers by Fall; tracking gravel volume, spreading materials, and using geozones to see when operators are coming and going. Making a report for a unit and what they did that day is easy. It saves me probably half an hour a day for each of our five graders alone."
"For Administration, I find the reports to be accessible and very easy to generate. Council likes being able to see where equipment is and where work has been performed. "It is nice to have historical reports showing routes traveled day to day. I am able to tell when operators are working or just traveling with the red and blue lines on the map. The system is also there for liability purposes and confirming hours worked with our staff. We can match up time sheets if the operators are saying one thing and ignition-on/off time says otherwise. Overall, the system offers several helpful features."
"The GPS systems are helpful to see where guys are and where they have been, including start times and end times. I also like that I can see total km driven and graded, especially when they are snow plowing. Sometimes they have gone 500km which would be hard to believe without the data."
"We use several of the features available through our ConX Wireless Systems. The Public Snow Maps are referred to frequently in the office to see where operators have been, and we have both Councillors and ratepayers checking it regularly. We monitor our CSO Truck (Community Safety Officer) as well, as he is a lone worker. We are able to see where he is for safety purposes, and check in accordingly. Our Gravel trucks have speed alerts set up. This has been helpful for when ratepayers call in saying that trucks are going by too fast; we can simply look it up and show the ratepayer they are driving at an acceptable speed. The systems send automatic monthly reports as well, and these are presented to Council at each meeting for review."

"We have two graders and Cartwright-Roblin Municipality uses Text 2 Car regularly in Summer and even more in Winter for snow storms. Council and staff can pop into the systems and see where machines are which is a double benefit: 1) PUBLIC SERVICE - responding to area calls for service is easier knowing where machines are, and 2) OPERATOR SAFETY – no interruptions for operators while they drive, and working alone is a little safer when machines can be located on the map. We are very excited about testing the Snow Map features and an addition to the automatic reports already in use. With those reports we have factual answers to questions about frequency of road blading and snow clearing. The monthly reports are also shared with council at each meeting. Overall, Text 2 Car has been a very handy addition to our toolbox."

Council is able to refer people to it who have appreciated being able to see when the graders have been in the area. I look at the grading maps for our Graders quite a bit. The best thing about the system is when ratepayers question if the operators have been on their roads. I can quickly and easily bring up the historical maps and confirm that they have been there. A couple years ago, we had a potential liability situation when someone had hit the ditch. They attempted to blame the accident due to the graders not grading that section of the road but it fizzled out pretty quickly when I was able to provide the documentation which showed the operator had graded the road the day before the incident."
"I have used the Road Segments feature to check on a road, as I needed to know how many passes were made on it to settle a complaint. Wouldn't have known without it. If there is a complaint or issue, it helps to clarify because I can easily tell how often a section of road was serviced."

"The RM of Snipe Lake has many rural water wells that supply ratepayers with water for agriculture use and domestic water on farms. (Note: the domestic water is not considered to be potable water). We decided to do a test project on two water wells in Division 4 which I’m the present councillor. The reason we picked these wells is that this site is in the vicinity of two neighbouring Rural Municipality. The well water is free of charge and 100% funded by the RM of Snipe Lake. We have Text2Car (ConX Wireless) on most of our graders and gravel trucks that are used in the RM. They informed us that they have equipment that can gather information for us. Here are the criteria of what we wanted to be able to do: ➢ We requested that the information, administration, activation, and deactivation to be handled at the RM office. ➢ Water users are required to come to the RM of Snipe Lake office to apply for access. This way we can identify the users. We have built bylaws that state the requirements for water well users. The Text2Car (ConX Wireless) system meets these requirements. Here are the requirements at the water well site: ➢ We had looked at cards with magnetic strips or key fobs (magnets with identification). In talking with people using cards with magnetic strips, there seemed to be a lot of issues with the card or the reader for the card mostly in cold or wet conditions and that cards were prepaid and they needed to put in identification codes. We can pinpoint exactly which roads have been maintained, when they were maintained and, by which pieces of equipment. "The info T2C gives provides solid evidence which resolves disputes very quickly, allowing us to maintain good relationships with the rate payers. We were also having employee issues with daily work reporting. T2C takes the human element out of that reporting. The graders and mowers are important to monitor to see work completed. Our biggest concern with the gravel trucks is that they are not speeding on grid roads in the RM.
